Safe & Sound Innovations began in 2013, with the mission to help lower the sudden infant death rate all over the world by providing a safe place to sleep and educational tools. As a concerned mother herself, Jennifer Zarate created Safe and Sound Innovations to address the lack of infant safety education across the United States. When Jennifer had children of her own, she couldn’t easily find affordable access to infant safety training that was based on proven clinical data. With the growth in technology over the last 20 years, there is often misleading or confusing information available to a new parent. By creating Safe and Sound, Jennifer has been able to educate other parents on risks that are believed to possibly be linked to SIDS. While there is still much research to be done on the matter and nothing is guaranteed, there are preventative steps that can be taken.
We hope you love our Newborn Bonding Boxes as much as we do! Our Boxes are third-party laboratory tested to meet CPSC required safety standards. We offer customization, allowing hospitals to have their own unique design. Love one of our current Boxes but want to add a logo? Great! We offer logo customizations, as well. Although we take pride in our beautifully designed boxes, it’s the education we offer parents that requires the majority of our attention. The cute box isn’t enough to prevent SIDS, but the training inside each box can help make the difference.
Each year in the United States, an average of 2,500 children under the age of 1 die from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Approximately 900 others die from accidental suffocation. Unfortunately some of these deaths are unpreventable, but our research over the past decade has proven there are better methods we can all take. Since our commencement, we’ve provided the tools and resources so parents can feel more confident keeping their babies safe.
There are many ways we work with organizations in providing our training and materials to new parents at their hospitals.
- Developing “Parental Workshops” where both mom and dad will attend a class either before, or after their baby is born. These classes educate parents on the safest ways to properly handle any sort of situation. Our material covers a wide variety of topics that promote the safety and well-being of both baby and partent(s). To provide hospitals with mesurable results or metrics, we offer “pre” and “post” quizes that can guage the success of classes.
- After completing a class, hospitals provide parents with our certification of completion award or a voucher, which can then be redeemed for their very own Bonding Box. Some hospitals choose to distribute the Boxes onsite, while others offer a coupon redeemed at the hospitals gift shop. There is no “one size fits all” with Programs and we partner with you to create a program that best fits your institutions unique challenges.
- To allow parents to remain educated at home, we provide “training in a box” which includes workbooks, post-class quizzes, notes, and handouts.
- Some hospitals may not have the resources to offer on-going training classes and for these, we offer a training DVD that can be played for the parent(s) post delivery, before discharge.

Safe and Sound Boxes are third-party laboratory tested to meet CPSC required safety standards. The Newborn Bonding Boxes come beautifully designed with safety-first baby products. Each box comes with a domestically made mattress, along with two fitted sheets. Boxes can also come with products for both mom and baby that encourage bonding such as: breastfeeding scarfs, breast pads, baby books, an infant first aid kit, and more!
Our training manual was developed by healthcare professionals and encourages healthy habits . It was created to provide parents with an educational tool for keeping their children safe. The training is built to help reduce SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), consists of multiple sections, and includes topics like: breastfeeding, shaken baby, and suffocation prevention. WORK WITH NON-PROFITS
A majority of the infants who have unexpected deaths come from families in need. For each Newborn Bonding box we sell, 10% of the sale goes to local non-profit organizations. These groups main focus is on these less fortunate families. We also take donations! 100% of your donation will go to an individual family of your choosing, a group of families, or any non-profit we’re affiliated with. If you want to donate, go to the Contact Us page and send us your information! By donating, a message of your choice will be encrypted into your recipient’s bonding box.
