Safe & Sound began in 2013, with the mission to lower the infant death rate all over the world. We are headquartered in Kansas City, but have partners in locations as far as Alaska. Jennifer Zarate created Safe and Sound to address the lack of infant safety education across the United States. When Jennifer had children of her own, she couldn’t find an easily accessible set of infant safety training. With the growth in technology within the last 20 years, there’s no excuse for parents being uninformed of every method keeping their child safe. By creating Safe and Sound, Jennifer has been able to educate parents all over the country and lower the infant death rate one baby at a time.
We hope you love our Newborn Bonding Boxes as much as we do! Box designs can be customized for large orders. For individual orders, we’re positive you’ll love one of the six designs we offer. Although we take pride in our beautifully designed boxes, it’s the education we offer parents that requires the majority of our attention. The cute box isn’t enough to prevent SIDS, but the training inside each box can make the difference.
Each year in the United States, an average of 2,500 children under the age of 1 die from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Approximately 900 others die from accidental suffocation. Unfortunately some of these deaths are unpreventable, but our research over the past decade has proven there are better methods we can all take to prevent these. Since our commencement, we’ve provided the tools and resources so parents can feel more confident keeping their babies safe.
There are many ways we work with organizations in providing our training and materials to new parents at their hospitals.
- Developing “Parental Workshops” where both mom and dad will attend a class either before, or after their baby is born. These classes educate parents on the safest ways to properly handle any sort of situation.
- After completing this class, we instruct hospitals to provide parents with our certification of completion award. This certificate can then be redeemed for their very own Newborn Bonding Box.
- To allow parents to remain educated at home, we provide “training in a box” which includes workbooks, post-class quizzes, notes, and handouts.
WHAT WE DO
We partner with hospitals, and healthcare organizations across the United States who share our passion to lower the infant death rate. We provide organizations with newborn bonding boxes, Safe and Sound training manuals, and guidance on how to put together classes for parents. If your hospital or organization would like more information on these programs, check out our Organization page.
The Newborn Bonding Boxes come beautifully designed with safety-first baby products. Each box comes with a domestically made mattress, along with two fitted sheets. Boxes also come with baby safety supplies such as: diaper covers, breast pads, pacifiers, an infant first aid kit, and more! All our baby supplies are CPISA regulated.
Our training manual was developed by healthcare professionals. She created the training to provide parents with an education for keeping their children safe. The training is built to help prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), consists of multiple sections, and includes topics like: breastfeeding, shaken baby, and suffocation prevention. More details on our signature baby safety training can be found on the Parenting Center page.

WORK WITH NON-PROFITS
A majority of the infants who have unexpected deaths come from families in need. For each Newborn Bonding box we sell, 10% of the sale goes to local non-profit organizations. These groups main focus is on these less fortunate families. We also take donations! 100% of your donation will go to an individual family of your choosing, a group of families, or any non-profit we’re affiliated with. If you want to donate, go to the Contact Us page and send us your information! By donating, a message of your choice will be encrypted into your recipient’s bonding box. Fill out your information, and we’ll contact you right away!
